The difference between Wavecom Fastrack Supreme 10 GSM Modem and Wavecom Fastrack Supreme 20 GSM Modem is the latter has EDGE.

Q1: Previously, we use Wavecom Fastrack M1306B with MOBITEK’s SMS API. If we decide to use Fastrack Supreme 20, do we need to re-write our software?

Wavecom Fastrack Supreme 20 GSM MODEM Set-Up Guide

  Before inserting SIM card into the modem, please disable the SIM lock (by using a hand phone).

Insert SIM card the correct way as shown in picture.

SIM card size is standard (mini). Please use adapter if required.

 

Attach the antenna to modem.

 

Connect modem to PC either using USB cable or serial (RS-232) cable.

For USB:

  1. install USB driver first; DO NOT plug the USB cable;
  2. run “USBDriverInstaller_SL6_V3.8.9.0.exe“;
  3. restart the computer in order to use the driver;

  1. connect modem to PC via USB cable;
  2. power adapter is NOT required;
  3. ensure the red LED is blinking.
 

 

  1.  check the COM port number, goto:
    “Device Manager → Modems → Sierra Wireless Device → Properties”
  2. then goto “Modem → Port”, in this example, the modem is connected to COM port number 31.

For serial cable:

  1. power adapter is required, please connect it
  2. no USB driver is required
  3. it is either COM 1 or COM 2
  4. ensure the red LED is blinking.

Operation Status of Supreme 20

Permanently lighted

Modem is switched ON, but not registered in the network. Modem is NOT ready.

Blinking

Modem is switched ON and is registered in a network. Modem is ready to be used.

Note:

  1. the default baud rate is 115200.
